Carolina Preparedness — Practical Field Training

Preparedness

Urban Survival Training

A two-day class focused on planning, gear, and decisions for surviving a disaster in a populated area.

A two-day, hands-on class built around the realities of an urban disaster — natural or man-made. We cover short-term (24–72 hour) events and longer-term grid-down situations. Includes classroom lecture, small-group work, and personal planning exercises so you leave with a real plan, not just a binder.

What you'll learn

  • Survival psychology and the mindset of people who make it through
  • When to stay in your home and when to leave
  • Home food and water storage priorities
  • Family rendezvous points and evacuation strategies
  • How to build bag kits for home, office, and vehicle
  • Water purification, sanitation, and off-grid first aid basics
  • Communication methods when cell service is unreliable
  • Equipping your vehicle for roadside emergencies

What to bring

  • Notebook and pen
  • Any preparedness gear you own and want feedback on
  • Comfortable clothing for indoor and outdoor sessions
